Background

Foundation for Social Care was founded by a dedicated group of youngsters hailing from different backgrounds and exposures but with a united spirit to do something for the suffering humanity. When the organization was formed in 1994 India was passing through a very challenging time in the aftermath of the demolition of Babri Masjid with a devastating set back to the secular ideals and communal harmony of the country. The largest minority comprising 120 million Muslims was living a life of shock and despair. The sane community of the country felt its helplessness in promoting the constitutional goals of freedom, justice, equality and fraternity. The chauvinist sections were at large. The whole country was drowning in a communal discourse leaving aside the common aspirations of progress and development. Lucknow, the capital city of Uttar Pradesh where the epicenter of the most precarious turmoil of Independent India was located, was facing a grave situation of faith deficit among people and communities. Such were the days when the said group resolved to establish a non-governmental organization with egalitarian ideals and commitment to serve downtrodden and marginalized sections of society in particular in whatever ways possible for it. It made education, health and economic advancement as its leading priorities for serving people at large.
