Empowerment through education
The FSC believes that the dream of forming an enlightened, just and egalitarian society is not possible without an effective and inclusive educational system. The accessibility of the marginalized sections to quality education is an essential pre-requisite for progress of a community or nation. It is incumbent on policymakers and development workers to assure presence of quality institutions within the reach and affordability of common people so that the backrunners of progress could be encouraged to take fore-seats of development. The FSC has started its contribution in this regard with the establishment of a rural English medium school, designated as al-Farooq Public School, at a remote village Karpi-Hamzapur in Sultanpur District of Uttar Pradesh. The area is marked with utter poverty and under-development which comprises one of the backward most parts of a backward most state of the country.
Establishment of a chain of similar schools in other villages of the state is in the offing. The next school in the chain will be established at Tulsipur (District Balrampur). The plan for establishing a high quality English medium residential school at Lucknow, namely Radiance Public School, has been long back approved by the FSC and a suitable land for the project has also been allocated recently. The Foundation looks forward to a wider and meaningful cooperation of all concerned for realizing this ambitious project.
Another instrument adopted by the organization for the promotion of education remains its well appreciated scholarship programme, thorough which financial assistance has been extended to 600 university-level and around one hundred school level students under various schemes of the FSC.
The FSC gives utmost importance to educating the girl child. This is evident from its emphasis on the selection of girls on priority basis in the FSC’s institutions and scholarship schemes.
