Meeting of Trustees The adjourned meeting of the Board of Trustees of Foundation for Social Care was held at the Head Office on 19-20 June 2002. The Founder President Maulana Zaheer Ahmad Siddiqui chaired the meeting. Apart from dispensing with the routine agenda of evaluation, planning and budget the meeting endorsed the constitution of Central Monitoring Committee (CMC) of the Foundation and the decision of the office-bearers to undertake construction of residential flats on the site of Hostel Project, New Delhi, with a view to raise trust fund and develop the proposed hostel at some better site. Central Monitoring Committee In a meeting of Office-bearers of the FSC held on 27 May 2002, it was felt that the Foundation is on the verge of take off for the second phase of its activities and, therefore, it needs a better management system and effective planning. Consequently, it was resolved to form an executive cum monitoring structure for the assistance of the trustees, termed as Central Monitoring Committee (CMC), with the these members: Mr Zaheer Ahmad Siddiqui (Convener), Mr Tariq Anwar Khan, Mr Naseem Akhtar and Mr Abdul Rashid Agwan. After its constitution, the (CMC) has so far convened 6 monthly meetings, as on 27-30 May, 22-25 June, 47 July, 5-8 August, 20 August and 1619 September 2002. the major decisions taken by the CMC in these meetings include: 1. Introduction of FSC activities to a wider circle through dissemination of introductory material, public programmes of its units, quarterly newsletter, website and establishment of department of public relation. 2. Emphasis on approaching various governmental agencies for funds on the projects of common utilities. 3. Effective system development for a better management of the projects and activities of the FSC by training, orientation and delegation of well defined powers and authorities at various levels of the organisation. 4. Reorganisation of executive structure to make it more dynamic, effective and result oriented. 5. Formation of unit management committees to plan and execute various activities at different levels of each unit, section, institution, centre or division of the FSC. 6. Formation of advisory council to garner support and guidance from eminent personalities. 7. Inclusion of beneficiaries of all communities in various programmes, projects and activities of the FSC. 8. Development of wider base for resource mobilisation. 9. Development of inter- organisation cooperation with other NGOs. Visit of Mr Husain Zulqarnain Mr Husain Zulqarnain the Director of International Council of Islamic Information (ICII), United Kingdom, paid a visit of the Head Office on 8 June 2002. The key-functionaries discussed with him on the issues of mutual interest and shared his learned experiences in the field of inter community relations.
Monthly Orientation Lectures & Workshop The Central Monitoring Committee of the FSC has decided recently to develop a mechanism for continuous intellectual and professional growth of its workers at all the levels. In order to achieve this goal, it has been agreed to organise apart from applying some other tools, monthly lectures and biannual workshops involving all the workers of the Foundation to develop more commitment, effective and professionally sound techniques of management and skill improvement. So far the following lectures were addressed by Mr Abdul Rashid Agwan in the series of planned themes. One Lecture was also delivered by Dr M. R. Javed, a trustee of the FSC to pinpoint wrong tendencies in the Muslim community regarding Jihad. These lectures were delivered on the following themes on 6 July, 7 August and 17 September respectively. 1. Islam and the Social Work 2. Tapping the Human Potential 3. Objective Management 4. A Critique on the Ongoing Jihad Apart form these lectures, the first workshop of the term was organised on 4 August 2002. The Founder President Mr Zaheer Ahmad Siddiqui made the preliminary remarks at the beginning of the programme and briefed the audience about the objectives and the tools of the workshop. He specifically explained the SWOT analysis which was going to be applied during the programme. Consequently, this day long hectic workshop was successful in involving the rank and file of the organisation to deeply analyze the strength, weaknesses, opportunities and threats pertaining to the organisation. Clearly expressed ideas were noted down for further analysis of the state of affairs at various levels of the organisation. The final lists of all the four aspects of the analysis were circulated among the participants for their further reflection.
Meetings of the UMCs The Central Monitoring Committee has constituted Unit Management Committees (UMCs) in its meeting on 2225 June 2002 of all the units, branches, sections or divisions of the FSC for better management of their affairs. These committees were provided the terms of reference of UMCs and it was made obligatory that regular meetings of the incharges of all the UMCs should be held at the head office for their effective working. So far three meetings of incharges of these committees were held on 6 July, 6 August and 17 September 2002. Besides, each of the units held its monthly meeting in the last three months for execution and planning of their own affairs. One of the key reason for the formation of these committees was to involve wider cooperation of one and all. President meets Dignitaries of All India Muslim Personal Law Board The Founder President Maulana Zaheer Ahmad Siddiqui met various dignitaries of All India Muslim Personal Law Board, who assembled in Lucknow in connection with the meeting of Executive Committee on 21-23 August 2002. On this occasion he not only discussed on various issues with the Muslim leadership but also sought their advice on the affairs of the Foundation. The dignitaries appreciated various welfare programme undertaken by the FSC in last few years. |
